I've been fairly happy with my appearance for my most of my life, but from the profile my chin seems a bit convex, nobodies ever mentioned it to me, and I've actually never noticed it till this week, I don't really see myself in profile often enough. https://www.dropbox.com/s/wgbrcvhuntnorgs/Photo%20Jan%2027%2C%2012%2049%2054%20AM.jpg?dl=0, it really only seems noticeable from the side, https://www.dropbox.com/s/v4m5x74nsw09z1m/PhotoGrid_1422341981275.png?dl=0 . Any thoughts on how this affects my overall appearance (at least from what you can see of it in the photos)? I'm in my late 20's and just noticing this. Also I had braces when I was a kid so I'm fairly certain my bite is good.
It does look a bit recessed. I wouldn't rely on what other people notice or don't notice, because PEOPLE ARE BLIND TO DETAILS. They perceive the whole and not the parts: "looks good" or "doesn't look good." The only exception if it's something truly egregious like a very big crooked nose. This inability to grasp detail extends to oneself as well - I didn't realise my upper jaw was recessed until I was 35. I just thought I had a big lower jaw. BTW, how is your bite? No point in genioplasty if your lower jaw is recessed. If your bite is fine, I would skip genioplasty and get a chin wing osteotomy.
