Mandible in 2x Jaw Surgery

Why is the Mandible cut and elongated in the 2xJaw Surgery? Shouldn't it naturally only be set back behind the recessed upperjaw presurgery? Why is it that it has to be cut? Does the recessed Maxilla stop the Mandible from growing or something? Or is the bonemass the same and just the form is different? And aren't there ways to make the mandible grow to its genetic potential after the upperjaw is brought foward?

Sorry but your question does not make any sense, or at least I don't understand it.  The maxilla and mandible are both moved during bimaxillary surgery.  Surgery generally does not occur until bone development has ceased, usually after the teenage years.
