Long-term Post-op Swelling
« on: July 10, 2017, 05:52:40 PM »
For those who've been post-op for some time, I want to know how long it took until you felt your swelling was so minor that it was negligible?  Also, when was it no longer noticeable to you at all?

At least 6 months. I realised that my nose stopped widening in the morning. My ortho said he can see the difference in the upper lip in photos 12 and 24 months post op. I think he was trying to make me feel better. But  maybe there is something to it. I just shaved my beard for the the first time in over a year and I was told my lip was not as full as the last time I made the mistake of shaving.

Thanks PloskoPlus.  I'm feeling chipmunky right now and along with the braces am not back to 100% confidence socially.  And yes it's worst in the morning or after a nap.  I'm trying to be patient but this is such a long process.

How far post op are you? Was it bimax and did your surgeon use HA paste?

My lower lip is still massively swollen and numb after double jaw surgery 9 months ago. I had chin implant removal and genio advancement.

Within 12 weeks my swelling was more or less gone to the point that no one but me would notice. Crazy it took some ppl up to a year
