Large Genioplasty (12mm+)?
« on: June 02, 2019, 03:49:13 PM »
I was curious about the feasibility of a large genio, I was reading a thread on here and it seemed a 12mm+ or even a 14-15mm movement would be possible if there was a bone buttress in place. I know some doctors use hip or rib grafts but because of bone reabsorption would such a thing work long term? What would be preferable for a buttress in place of a graft, porex blocks or HA paste? Additionally, how would the cut of bone differ from that of a sliding genioplasty, which seems to allow for less projection. Anyone have any experience with that large of an advancement or know of any surgeons who do so? I have heard Dr. Deschamps-Braly has experience with large movements such as this, anyone know of any others?
