I have been researching on that matter. From what I’ve read It’s usually perform on kids or the people who require a lot of advancement, where at first they have osteogenesis and then finalize the treatment with the osteotomy. My educated guess is that as osteogenesis still requires a fracture/cut to be made, it’s just not worth it, as similar results can be acquired just by repositioning the jaw and allowing it to heal, besides those cases where extreme movement is required or the full fledged osteotomy is not possible due to other reasons.
