Hi everyone :)

Would love to know why everyone here is getting or considering jaw surgery? What are your main issues? Is it aesthetics/function/both?

Also do you have an image in your head of how you will look post-op?

We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down.

This is retrospective for me, but I'll still respond.

My main purpose in getting the surgery was to correct functional issues, in the sense that if my bite did not pose a functional problem I wouldn't have gotten the surgery.

HOWEVER.  I was looking forward to the surgery intensely and the reason for this was the aesthetic change.  I was very self conscious of my underbite.

I figured I wouldn't look too different, but I had no idea what I would look like.

Eat, sleep, and talk properly.  I cannot believe how anti-social I've become because of the last reason.  I sometimes sound like I've had a stroke or something.
