flat mid-face?
« on: July 17, 2013, 01:53:54 PM »
What exactly is a flat mid-face?

I keep hearing the term in my research about orthognathic surgery, but i'm not entirely sure what it is.

I *think* it's when, from the profile, there is no definition?
But then, isn't that something that would be fixed by losing fat in the face, so that you can see your cheekbones?

Is it caused by having small cheek bones?

Any good comparison picks? (excellent midface vs flat midface)

ive always considered a flat midface to be recessed and usually elongated relative to the rest of the face. no such thing as "small cheekbones" rather where they sit on the face. even if they are set low close to the upper jaw it doesnt mean one has a flat midface.

ideally a face will project forward, a flat midface is just that - flat and not projected. recessed.
