what can I do ? (prominent eyes)
« on: May 22, 2015, 11:10:36 AM »
Hi everyone I'm a girl and I have prominent eyes (unfortunately) for natural bone structure.
It makes me really sad and ugly, so I want to perform a Lefort III fracture.
I really want to know more about this procedure , my facial flaws are these protruding eyes, my long hairline and long oval shaped face.
I want to know more about Lefort III and Double-jaw surgery (I have overbite structure)
My proptosis is mild.
There're other procedures/surgeries to correct prominent eyes , and facial structure? There's only lefort III ? Anyone knows good surgeons who perform Lefort III ?
I know if had not that eye shape I would be pretty.
I'm tired of looking ugly.
Thanks in advance to those who will respond

Pictures would help a lot.

LeFort 3 is a VERY risky and invasive surgery. You might be able to do without it.

Pictures! There are other medical conditions that can cause prominent eyes. Have you been evaluated? Like many things in life, yeah it sucks :( I've got an aunt who has the same problem. She's married, has kids, and otherwise seems happy with life. I think a lot of people learn to cope at young ages. Use youth to your advantage for sure, men value that.

It causes problems later in life too I believe. That's more the domain of an oculoplastic surgeon I think. Have you visited one? You might look up a local craniofacial surgeon just for consult. Look at any major hospital. People here have been talking about Dr Sinn in Dallas a lot lately. There may be less invasive options, like implants. I have a strong anti-surgery stance but in cases where there's an obvious intolerable problem with long term health implications like yours sounds, I think some risk is warranted mostly because there's risk in the alternative too. But definitely look for the least risky route first and that may mean some compromises need to be made. You can expect most trust worthy doctors to take this position too, you're probably just barely within the criteria of what a craniofacial surgeon would consider operating on.

The comments are right about LeFort 3. Very risky with lots of collateral damage. You may be ugly but it can get a lot worse.

Orbital decompression might be what you need but it's impossible to tell without seeing any pictures.

Something as simple as ptosis repair might do it but yeah, we're going to need pics.

I don't want to cope with it. I want to be pretty. I'm twenty years old and I can't stand anymore this ugly face.  Please don't respond unless you want to give advice and information about.
It's not due illness I already saw an oculoplastic and others.
My dad has a similar facial structure but his not bad as mine. I can't live with this ugly face. I suffer a lot and even when I wear makeup I can't make photos because It's evident. I look ugly in mirrors and in camera.
I'll update some photos soon or tomorrow.

You're probably suffering from BDD, this makes everything look worse than it usually is. Don't take any rash decisions.

First post some pictures and then we will talk  ;)

trust me it's not BDD. (I already saw a specialist but it wasn't a maxillofacial surgeon, it was an oculoplastic that worked for a plastic surgeon specialized in nose and not maxillofaccial and the only thing that could do is eyelid surgery) The problem is real.

Oh I am not saying your 'problem' is not real. All I'm saying is that you might suffer from BDD, which may manifest in you exaggerating (involuntary) the extent of the 'problem'.

As said before, only way we can help you is if you post pictures, so we can assess the 'problem' for ourselves.
