Yes tonnes of swelling and bruising, my sister fainted when she came to see me in hospital. Compares to a minor car accident.

The most painful part was the throat. It is terribly swollen and drainage tubes (once removed) leave your throat scratched and sore.... Very unbelievably sore. It's feels like you have not had a drink in a million years and airways are restricted, this was the very worst bit.... The rest doesn't  even register on pain scale. Once the throat improved (two weeks post op) I felt like I was starting to get better.

Oh no, that sounds awful! I thought I had it bad with my rhino swelling, but I've obviously got nothing on you. Sounds like your family were supportive though, and you definitely need people around you to help you through it. I'd love to see before and afters, if you're comfortable sharing.
