Pain after two-jaw surgery ?

If you have relevant personal experience or friends or family or clinical knowledge - -  please estimate the percentage of patients undergoing two-jaw surgery who only experience pain of 4 or less on the standard 1-10 hospital pain rating scale.   Reference would be day 2 post op and only consider  patients not receiving opioid narcotics (but non-narcotic medication is assumed).

you would literally be INSANE to refuse patients opioid painkillers on day 2 of post-op. Why would you even consider that? THe only reason I can think is that you are a former junkie and or heroin addict so the painkillers would trigger you to relapse. If that's the case I really think you or this hypothetical "person" should forgo jaw surgery. It is not a walk in the park by any means. The risk ratio is also frankly way too high. so far it looks i lucked out. But today just sitting in the movie theater there was a moment i turned my head and the pain was so sharp and pervasive on my face I yelped out loudly and then just dropped my head I couldn't talk or move or anything. And I popped two hydrocodone --the pain is still there but I don't feel it so acutely. You need good mental health for this. I don't think it's a good idea for drug addicts. No offence, it's not a great operation all around for people with mental health issues.

Day 2??? I have massive pain right now at Day 11??? And it's not like light it's fierce angry like a burning rod is being inserted into my gumline by some like freaky monk from the grand inquisition. Trust me Inquisition torture got nothing on bimax.

But why are you even doing this survey BOBBIT? Like why would you deny someone opioid narcotics as you call them after surgery? You're not one of those "Oh I don't even take an aspirin when I have a fever because I believe only naturaopathy." (those people are f**king RETARDED. If you don't take an aspirin during fever you are damaging your f**king brain tissue which is probably making you f**king STUPIDER the next time you get sick and have to decide whether you'll take an "anti-inflammatory." Meanwhile you're probably scarfing down value meal apple pies from McDicks which probably contain enough chemicals to do weed treatment on your entire lawn and your straw colored hair is dyed with so many chemicals you won't need to be embalmed with formaldahyde when you're prepared for open-casket burial. So I'm just saying like why the f**k would you not take a painkiller?

To be fair, most patients don't have any feeling post-op so pain levels are supposed to be quite low. I hear mostly about vomiting blood and stuff like that.

If the patients are still numb and without any feeling on day 2,  then they may have way too much nerve damage for typical surgeries.  From everything I have learned about the post op course for patients having this type of surgery, the reports of pain off scale high a week or 10 days after surgery is extremely atypical.   I think if the surgery is skillfully done and without complications,  the pain level off of opioids should normally be in the +3 range.   

And,  yes,  every patient is different,  and each one has a different threshold for pain.

Regardless, some stranger coming to this forum will be forever discouraged from even considering jaw surgery - -  if they think that +10 is "normal".  It is not.

This is an odd poll. Why don't you ask if people experienced pain on the second day (and how severe) and figure percentages from there? I only have a sample of 1 to go by, so I can't answer your question as its currently presented. Here's an example:
