I had an infection. Take it easy if you still have stitches and hope that it goes away fast. My infection was only apparent like 2 months out from surgery when my plate got infected and had to be removed. It was no big deal because by they the bone had consolidated. IF it's just the exterior stitches area you should be fine as long as it doesn't go down to the plate. They can tell if they take an x-ray.
