Stability of jaw surgery
« on: May 21, 2018, 06:57:43 AM »
Obviously jaw surgery is considered stable, else no one would do it.

But I wonder if there's any meassurement regarding how stable it is. I'm thinking if anyone would be into contact sports like boxing etc, how well does the fractured spots hold up compared to a solid jaw that has not been tampered with. Is the healing complete so the fractured spots are as good as any part, or is there a difference?

not sure about receiving contact but i recall reading that lateral movements are more stable and less likely to relapse compared to CCW or esp downgrafting like how they fix a short maxilla.
