You mean setting the mandible back, or shortening the ramus?

this is done by some surgeons for class 3s and is called mandibular set-back.

other surgeons (triaca et al) never do a mandibular set-back, because it can lead to soft tissue bunching up in the back of the throat (sleep apnea), so they simply advance the maxilla into a class 1 relationship.
