Why does the lower lip become smaller after genioplasty/chin wing and how much?

A lot of people who've had the procedure complain of a smaller lower lip after surgery. Why is this? Is this because the mentalis muscle gets stretched and flexed in such a way that the lower lip becomes tucked to a degree? How much will my lower lip shrink if I have chin wing? I am quite worried about this potential side effect and I'm not sure how likely it is to occur in my case because I don't even know what causes it.

What kind of genioplasty? Mine wasn't changed at all (it might even be larger now).

I read complaints from people who have had regular sliding genioplasty as well as chin wing claiming their lower lip became smaller. How pleased are you with your result? The fact that you are still posting here isn't such a good sign
Here is one in German:

and here is another in English

It does have to do with the mentalis muscle, yes. This rotates the lower lip inwards which makes it smaller. I read that some surgeons now use the V-Y suturing technique when doing a genio to avoid this.
