Reduction Genioplasty (Chin Shortening)
« on: July 02, 2012, 04:12:01 PM »
Has anyone had (or know someone) a successful reduction genioplasty (not burring)? It appears to be fairly rare because of the likelihood of soft tissue redundancy. Also, I don't fully understand why some surgeons prefer an intraoral (inside of mouth) over the submental (under chin) approach. Any thoughts? Is muscle always removed and reattached to accomplish this type of reduction?

Quick back story: I had a large advancement BSSO, making my already prominent chin more prominent.

I have seen some good vertical reduction pics online.

Do you need vertical or horizontal reduction or both?

I need horizontal reduction, I think. If you have links on hand, would love to see them.
