What is it like to be put to sleep (given anesthesia) through a mask?

Hi everyone,

I was wondering what it is like to be put to sleep (given anesthesia) through a mask for double jaw surgery?

I have heard that you can choose a "scent" for your mask, is that option available for double jaw surgery patients?

Any information on the experience/process you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure they even use a mask. The only thing I remember is getting an IV drip in my arm.

They put an oxygen mask over your face. Tell you to take some deep breathes. Injection of medication is done through your IV. Within seconds you will be out and not remember anything.

This is what people fear most about surgery but it really is the easiest, if not best part. I had a different surgery and I remember them putting on the oxygen mask and was told to remember my most recent vacation, so I went to sleep within seconds with a smile on my face.
