Tongue thrusting downwards F it all!!!!
« on: July 31, 2015, 11:22:06 AM »
Had surgery with good results, I keep my tongue to the roof of the mouth BUT when I swallow quite often my tongue will thrust, pulling my upper teeth/maxilla downwards.

Surely this will make my teeth grow downwards?

It feels like my thyroid or adams apple is too big which is causing this action.

My tongue did this before surgery by the way but I kept my tongue on my lower jaw then.

I feel a little silly typing this but I'm sure you can all understand how demoralising it is to have a face you are happy with but also the knowledge that it can be taken away by powers beyond your controll.

I don't know, I just keep the tip of my tongue up there but when I swallow, often my tongue thrusts forwards and downwards, pushing the upper teeth down.

Hmm I don't think anyone is an expert on that matter, I have never heard of anyone's tongue thrusting their maxilla downwards.
If you apply the same principles of how braces work, it seems likely that my upper teeth will or already have moved downwards.
