Surgery to move mouth/lips backwards?
« on: January 04, 2017, 05:21:17 PM »
Hi there everyone,

I have been reading the forum for a few weeks and decided to post a thread as I can't seem to find the answer to my questions.

What I would mainly like to know is if there is an operation that moves the mouth/lips backwards. From a side profile point of view my mouth sits exactly in line with the back of my nose. I have noticed that most people's  lips sit behind the nose.

I am based in the uk so any recommendations for UK doctors would be most appreciated.

Many thanks

Elvet

There's a surgery I had done a couple months ago which moves the mouth and lips back. Its called an Anterior Segmental Osteotomy.

Hi Vic,

Please would you tell me some more about the procedure from your point of view? After searching online for anterior segmental osteotomy the results are mostly South Korean orientated and I would be very reluctant to travel that far for the procedure.

I am from the UK, where do you live?

Also what is the best way to find a surgeon that performs this procedure.

Many thanks,

Elvet

I live in the UK, it's a procedure which you don't see a lot other than in Korea because it's usually to fix very severe bimax protrusion which they have a lot of over there and also it requires a surgeon who's extremely skilled and as done it plenty of times as there are more risks than normal jaw surgery.
I got it done by Dr Zarrinbal in Berlin, who's very skilled at procedures of the face. I'm going back to him in a couple months to get a couple more procedures done, so I trust him completely as I've had no issues since my surgery and all the numbness has gone now. Touch wood it continues to stay good

What do you know about it really to know whether it's a horrible idea?

Then post pictures like I said originally and prove me wrong.  Cephs.  And no need for name calling.

Again with the name calling.  I have posted pictures to this site - check my posts.  In doing so, you'll also find I've added plenty of "useful" content to this site.  I will say I'm wrong if I'm wrong, but as of right now, you're just being emotional because you had a particular surgery and I'm questioning it.
