What do you think about the result?
« on: December 08, 2013, 11:51:18 AM »
Hi,

I found this Web site by Dr. Arquero.

3 questions if I may Ask:

1. What do you think about his original jaw?  (Does this Kind of jaw consider very undevelopment? I mean the lateral projection on the front view)

2. What do you think about the after photo result?

3.  Does someone know Dr. Arquero?   ( I can't find a topic here about him)

Solid result.  I've actually seen quite a lot of decent results using mandibular angle implants.  It's what happens in the months/years down the line than can be an issue.

It is hard to see how recessed this guy really is my guess is not hugely?  Lip posture looks reasonably normal.  The main issue was the  narrow lower face which was corrected efficiently with the implants

Looks much more drastic (in a good way) than 99% of jaw surgery results.

What's that? They can be removed right?

If they're silicone, yes.  If they're medpor, it's very very difficult

I think the placement is difficult, much more so than a chin implant.  Slippage and migration used to be issues but I think they now screw them into place (or at least they should).  I think the main issue these days is getting the muscles to 'accept' the implant.

We are very anti-implant on this board but in my opinion there is no denying that they gave give a good visual result for those people who are class 2 and have short ramuses and poor angle definition.  At the moment, there isn't really any good way to elongate a ramus - distraction isn't there yet and ramus osteotomies can relapse.

Who is the surgeon who made the 1% better?   wanna see a lot of before/after (of the good ones)

I don't think he had a problem with the locations of the jaw line.  I think the problem was much more with the contour lines, with the weak lateral projection.
the procedure: ... "Patient undergoes secondary rhinoplasty, solid silicone chin and mandible prosthesis placement and subsequently, placement of hidrogel placement in mandible and cheek angles"

I have quite similar problem to deal with... (the weakness of the jaw)
I wish I could fix it without implants...
