I hear the infection rate is about 1% for this surgery. Has anyone here gotten an infection? If so, then did it progress to osteomyelitis? How effective were treatments and did you experience recurrence months or years later? Is this something that I should be worrying about?
My brother is a radiologist and said he sees lots of these cases in other parts of the body and that it's not uncommon. Are the risks expected to be lower for jaw surgery? I think the surface area of our implants is smaller but the number of parts is much greater.
