Facial beauty analyzer
« on: January 23, 2015, 09:59:48 AM »
This popped up on Reddit the other day. It's called Anaface. It analyzes your face for symmetry and proportion and then gives you a beauty score. I just ran it on myself and it gave me a score of 7.31/10. Experiments on Mech Turk and Reddit have others rating me at about 6.9/10 so seems on the ball to me. Here's the reasons it cited:

- Your face has poor horizontal symmetry
- Your ears are too long for your nose
- Compared to your eye width, your innerocular distance is nearly ideal.
- Your nose is too wide for your face width.
- Your face is too narrow/long.
- Your mouth is too wide for your nose.

All those points are true IMO in my case and it explains why jaw surgery is unlikely to change aesthetics in my case much unless it introduces a deformity. I hear the stretching from an MMA is like a free face lift though so it might make me appear younger.

ideal symmetry is not sexy

check his score, then ask a girl what he think about how he looks ;)

He's good looking for the same reason Jennifer Aniston was considered a beauty - spin and hype.

I didn't put it into the website. What does it say? What strikes me is his cheeks. He has none.

a man does not need huge cheekbones.  He must be just kinda symmetric but not perfect :)
I have the same type of assymetry like Gosling. Nose a bit more on the one side, one eye little lower. and it does not bother me. It's normal for me. But Now I have on the one side cheek clearly visible cheekbone (bigger than Gosling have ) on the other side smaller (smaller than Gosling have) due to overlooked fracture :)

his cheekbones are just ok

this one has got a bit better symmetry

and as you see they both are just good looking, Hence very good symmetry is not the key :)

The second guy is another hyped "handsome" star.  These guys are simply not in the same league as Paul Newman, Daniel Day Lewis, etc..  It's just ridiculous Hollywood hype.

Thanks Molestrip. I actually went to a different site and it worked. It's not really that accurate...only measures a few proportions.  If you move the indicators even a fraction you can end up with a whole different result. It's rather intriguing to see how such tiny variations can make such a big difference to one's appearance.

I agree with this. But they're not bad looking. They have amazing hair and skin. Striking blue eyes. And well proportioned features i.e. the with of the nose etc. and all have a good strong chin which is important for a man (which us class II's don't have....yet). So they're certainly handsome. Are they ridiculously handsome like Richard Gere or Paul Newman or even a young Keanu Reeves? No.

I uploaded 3 pictures of my face and each photo got 8-8.5, and I did them dozens of times. I call bulls**t, because I know I'm not an 8. Good looks= balance in the face+good features
