I don't see how a surgical maxillary expansion could impact nasal congestion. Here's one detailed study I found. What do you all think? I could certainly see how RME could do it, since the widening bone would likely pull the lateral walls of the nasal cavities out in the same way that it pulls the midface forward but in a SARME or 3-segment LeFort, those walls won't move, only the nasal floor will. I'm asking because I'm wondering whether my nasal congestion is really due to enlarged turbinates or a shrunken nasal cavity, making them appear relatively large.
