What are "Cutting Guides"?

Had consult with Dr Sinn, he was able to clarify a lot of my questions and concerns. Interestingly he never referred to it as a "modified Le Fort III" or "Le Fort III", he only ever called it "infraorbital rim advancement".

When we were discussing CAS he mentioned he didn't do it for THIS TYPE OF OPERATION due to the nature of it, however I could pay extra for "cutting guides" which would "add a level of exactness" to the operation.

My question is, what are cutting guides? Where can I read more about them? Is it worth paying for do you think?

I save all papers I receive, and I couldn't see one about cutting guides. Maybe I forgot to save? Anyway, I'd appreciate that thanks!

from what I remember they do a practice surgery on a model then mAke tools that can duplicate those cuts during surgery and no I didn't have that in my surgery

optimistic... any guide just give a little help for a surgeon. You nerver get 100% guarantee You will be very satisfied after surgery, but it's high probablity, and with CAS (if necessary) or other guide systems this high probablity turn into a a bit higher than high probality but it never reach 100%
The same problem I have with my surgery..CAS helps a little, but in my case I do not have to pay more.

interesting fact is most Sinn's patient (I know that from other user) regain 100% of feeling in this type of surgery. (as he claims). So I do not know how he streatchs these nerves in the way he has better results than other surgeons   You have to know that cutting nerve is a surgical error, in that type of surgery the main risk is with stretchng nerves

Sinn is superior surgeons to other ? if he is in minority who can do LF3 (or similar) in nonsyndromic patient ?  I can't get it. I'm confused

EARL: are you very satisfied with your surgery, or just satisfied ? I'm asking because You still looking for some solutions. Why similar to LF3 procedure has not resolved your aesthetic problem with eyes ?

there more that goes into the bug eye look than just the lower orbital rim. I am happy but I had other issues also that have to be addrrssed

for me it is always kinda mystery: if a surgeon who talks with super confidence is really so experienced or just too optimistic / or he encourage a patient to undergo surgery

I'm just wonder what you think about your surgeon ...and your way you chose him

Earl has discussed a lot of this previously on the forum. He e-mailed a tonne of surgeons asking if they would do mod. LF3 on a nonsyndromic patient. Those that said yes he consulted more with. Eventually he narrowed his choice down to Dr Sinn.

I noticed nobody will tell you, it's like some secret agenda. Last time I told the price quota I was given,in a exchange other patient told me his price was in a range of 0 to Infinity. Ridiculous. I won't discuss prices any-more.
