Infection 8 weeks post op

Did anyone experience this? I woke up saturday morning with a very swollen left side of my face.  I thought it was from alcohol friday night but its still there.  I seen the surgeon yesterday and he says its an infection and just gave me antibiotics to clear it up.  looking back, i noticed sometimes when drinking different liquids it felt like it was running into incisions in my mouth and down into my gums.  Is this a thing that can happen? Should antibiotics get rid of this ?

Alcohol is very bad for healing and increases the risk of infection. I'm kinda surprised that the incision wasn't closed properly though. That shouldn't have happened.
Antibiotics should help with it.

antibiotics helped for sure. still a little bump there. i'm going to see him today for a checkup.

Yea @ 8 weeks those incisions should've definitely already been closed up.

I got infection after something got into my wound (incision in my mouth) I didn't know that after 3 weeks it can be still opened.

Now I'm more careful. My surgeon told me that it should be closed around 6 weeks post operatively.. of course every infection there make it's little longer

However in my case I had some old blood inside - blood clot which was coming out through my sinuses down the throat. One blood clot could be infected. When it dissolved infection could spread over

In my case it seems to be closed after 5 weeks. Because one week ago I washed my mouth too strongly and the water went through the wound to my sinuses  heh strange feeling in my nose - my sinus is open - zygoma osteotomy. I accidently did it again yesterday and it was OK. On X-Ray taken 2nd day after surgery I see about 4-5mm gap in the bone... so it's gonna take a long time to heal (union)

The infection must be careful during this very much.
