Does this sound crazy? About to give up...
« on: March 20, 2016, 03:28:54 AM »
I have been refused a BSSO and Le Fort on two seperate occassions by two diffferent hosptials both citing that my jaw and teeth are too "complex" to guarantee a good result.

The only help that they can provide is decompensation on the lower arch to bring in my lower teeth.  But I suspect this will only result in a "goofy" type of appearance and make matters worse.

I'm booked in to see another orthodontist about this. Do you think if I do decompensate the lower arch, something like a twin block could be used to pull the jaw forward?  I don't mean permanently but as a temporary measure (as I believe a twin block isn't a fixed appliance).

I'm also thinking about seeking help from a specialist in DO in conjunction with the decompensation?

What do you think?

Sir i dont know ur case u can search high mandibular plane angles surgery results with class. I see a lot off before after girl  seem like had no mandibula before surgery i see in 9gag. Maybe u cant achieve best results but u can get better results. Just search save money and talk with surgeons.

http://9gag.com/gag/ae32yn5/it-s-amazing-what-jaw-surgery-can-do just this. its not bsso and lefort 1 maybe. But u can probably take different surgery plan. If u want fix it just search

Decompensation without surgery will make you look worse.

Unless you have severe asymmetry issues, your case shouldn't be that difficult.  It sounds like you're concerned with your overjet.  Find a better surgeon.

Be specific, why did they say your jaw was 'too complex'? whats wrong with it?

Sounds like a s**t surgeon tbh

its not complex. u can look his cephs in his posts. just his angle so high. distraction can work in his case. but i dont think bsso with lefort 1 work.

Like the other recent post from Ireland about the NHS - -   I think you are likely a victim of the socialized medicine in the NHS.

Nobody wants to go to the trouble to deal with the difficult cases - -  no upside for the surgeons.
