LAZLO's POST-OP SUPER-JAW JUICE RECIPE!!!!
« on: August 06, 2016, 06:57:44 AM »
So this juice recipe is meant for those 6 weeks post-op when you are supposed to be on an all-liquids diet. I know there is some confusion about this and some doctor allow patients to go onto "soft foods" (egg, yogourt, etc) after a few weeks, but this juice is for those hardcore jaw surgery patients who not only want to see the best out of their surgery but want to achieve elite level jaw-healthy and personal healthy.

You will need a high-level juicer and unfortunately such devices extract very minimal juice from the vegetables that you will be using. So as far as portions go I bought the following and then used 1/4th of it which yielded 1.5 litres (2 servings) of very high quality tasty juice. Again, remember I'm talking about juicing not smoothies.

head of organic kale
bunch of organic spinach
bunch of organic dandylion
large bunch of organic celery
head of organic swiss chard
head of broccoli
head of collard greens
8 large size beats
8 kiwi fruit
bag of organic mcintosh apples

raw ginger
two small bags raw turmeric

optional, one scoop, fermented vegan protein: http://www.vitaminshoppe.com/p/genuine-health-fermented-vegan-proteins-natural-vanilla-18-5-oz-powder/9g-1063#.V6XrhJMrL-Y

organic, coconut water (vita coca etc. brands): 1 cup

So it will take you 15-20 minutes to make this in terms of getting all the veggies ready and actually juicing everything but then you will have two servings of this juice available in your fridge to drink for the rest of the day.

Now I'm on a diet so that I will keep drinking only this super-foods juice till I hit my target weight 60 pounds later.

Also, putting a scoop of protein powder will hellp any protein defecit in your diet. In addition the turmeric, ginger and all the alkaline vegetables (greens) act as powerful anti-inflammatories.

It's great for your skin, hair, and your overall beauty regimen. it is truly the meal of champions. Hope you enjoy.

Why not? For those who don't want to invest in a juicer, I imagine putting all those ingredients in a blender would not be detrimental, just add water/fruit juice to make it thinner. Maybe it won't be as "concentrated" as pure juice, but you'll have more fiber.

Oh I'm not saying don't make smoothies and the way you suggest isn't bad. But let me put it this way to get 1 entire head of kale's worth of nutrients and pure essence takes juicing it and ending up with a glass of superpowered kale juice.

You'd only get maybe get a handful of kale leaves if you were doing the smoothie method and that's not a lot of kale and not a lot of nutrients either though yeah okay you get some fibre.

I'm sorry for those who can't afford an expensive juicer but you really should invest in one as it is totally worth it and something that helps you maintain excellent health. Juices also take like a half hour to make with prep, and juicing and then slowly straining but a smoothie glass of kale vs a juice glass of kale is like the equivalent of ford escort vs. a bugatti veyron in nutrition terms. Sorry, but it's true.

If you're juicing all those leafy greens raw there's a chance you'll get a iodine deficiency as they block iodine uptake. Suppose there's some iodine in beetroot.

Really? That's the first time I've heard of a problem with green juices!!!??

Oh I also take two tablespoons of butter oil mixed with fermented cod liver a day. Does that have iodine?

Don't just point out what's wrong without also offering a solution jeeeeezzzzzzzzzz.

The solution is to cook the greens first, and/or eat more iodine rich foods.

Which juicer do you recommend? I was thinking of getting one of the Omega Masticating juicers (the cheapest one).

I'm against juicing. It doesn't fill you up. It's expensive. You don't get the fibre. It can result in large doses of fructose which would have been otherwise healthy if eaten as a fruit. You have to clean the juicer.

However, I think it's good for post jaw surgery.

Well it would still be good for veggies without the fructose.

+1. Liquids give you calories without filling you up. As soon as you can eat, eat the real thing. Just compare a glass of orange juice and the number of oranges needed to make it. The calories are the same. One fills you up, one does not.

Juicing changed my life. Cleanses the whole system and can heal depression, Chronic Fatigue and lifelong conditions. Some people claim they healed cancer and herpes with it.
Whenever I feel bad or sluggish, I have a Juice Fast for up to 5 days. I watch my mood change and whenever I feel better and my conditions improved, I slowly start to go back to eating. My diet has also improved a lot now I even have times when I just don't feel hungry/could skip eating all day.
I learned to listen to my body and not the rigged mainstream food industry that just wants to sell and fill you up with unhealthy foods(literally make you sick).
If my body doesn't want food, I don't feed it. And if it needs a burger, a big dark bar of chocolate, steak, or fries, that is what it will get. You will be surprised how little you can survive on and how great you can feel if you begin to become more aware of your body and what it truly needs.
Today I had a juice fast without even noticing because my body just wanted it. This evening I had only a very big piece of cheese and feel amazing/full and satisfied. I am not anorexic but my occasional depression has healed. Also I realized, my body usually wants the fast after an alcohol binge which makes sense to me.
Fasting helps the body to cleanse and heal itself.

You talk about mainstream food literally making you sick, yet at the same you occasionally binge on alcohol?... I agree that industrial food should be avoided as much as possible (they're usually loaded with fat, sugar/carbs and salt), but alcohol does far greater damage to your body. Even a beer or two after work will not be good for you, let alone binge drinking.

Also, about listening what your body wants, this can be difficult for some people. Especially fat or skinny people whose bodies are used to a certain amount of food since their childhood. I don't doubt just a big piece of cheese or only juice for 5 days is enough for your body; from your username I suppose you're a woman and you need less calories than men. But I see many men in this forum and quite a couple of them are into weightlifting, and my advice to them would be EAT MORE. Don't listen to your body telling you you're not hungry anymore. You need all that food to build your body.

Anyway, this topic is about post-surgery liquid diets, so I'll stop ranting. But as a formerly skeleton-thin guy I just wanted to share some words of warning :P

Some  guys here (probably sometimes the same person posting under different names) have a general problem with women. Your need to constantly bash my posts or put down women is just funny and childish...
I do not post this for the dumb low class boys but for people to read in general.
So just move on and ignore if you don't like it. I also ignore you. This is an open forum and everyone can state their opinion and experience.
Not my fault that some pot heads and uneducated morons found their way here.
We will probably never meet on the street because we are from different worlds….so do me a favor and ignore or move on as I do to you in real life…
CHEERS

Your claims are very, very, VERY questionable....
