Step off / bump along jaw line?
« on: September 21, 2016, 09:58:42 PM »
Anyone have a step off / bump along their jaw line after sliding genioplasty? I'm now two years post op but I still have a step off / bump along my jawline. Plus my chin area feels a little tight still. I've had two sliding genioplasties.

Could the tightness and bumps / step off be a sign of nonunion?

Anyone else have step offs / bumps along their jaw line this long after sliding genioplasty?

It's not noticeable via photos. It could only be felt by touch.

Does anyone else here have a step off that could be felt along their jawlines even years after surgery? or know if something like this is normal?

Sounds like exactly what happens when you get a SG... your doctors didn't give you a heads up about that?

I can feel it too 4 months later. I don't think this is gonna resolve by itself. Since I'm looking to get a second SG I will ask them if they can shave the bumps away during surgery but does anybody know if there are any risks if they do that?

I don't really think the bumps take away from the aesthetics. My main concern is, does having the bumps mean there is a nonunion or the chin is more susceptible to relapse? Does anyone know?

I had a double sliding genio, where they make two cuts at the same time. My surgeon said he was going to advance my chin about a centimetre. I don't know whether I got that much advancement though. I can't feel any bumps but I can feel the screws. It doesn't bother me really. How much was your chin advanced after two genios?
