Depressor anguli oris muscle

Anyone have any work done on this muscle? I heard botox to this area could help treat downturned lip corners. I also heard some people have this muscle cut? Not sure how it all works. Does anyone have info on this? my lip corners sort of droop and I want to find a way to fix it.

I'm so confused by these muscles. I hear it handles the corners, but then if you google that muscle and add like "nerve damage", you see cases where half of their lower lip won't pull down into a smile.
