I see some people getting jaw surgeries in countries where you may be able to get away with it sometimes not even having any major functional problems, like some people has managed to convince the doctors that they really need it and get it done for free (after a long wait like 1 year but well it's better than paying 50k)

the problem: how is this nothing but a suicidal gamble, considering that you'll get some random surgeon that you know nothing about?

it's like, I always see people recommending that you spend more money into surgeons that know their aesthetics and have a long career of improving aesthetics, not ruining peoples faces etc. now, imagine you get it for free, but you get some random surgeon... isn't this basically insane?

my only realisitc chances at getting my jaw corrected I think it's with social health care because honestly I will never have 50k to drop on this s**t to fly to another country, stay there for like a week etc, this is only for rich spoiled kids which im not, so my only option is to try to convince a doctor that I really need this, maybe fake some functional problems? like I have problems breathing (I really think my breathing is not optimal, also im always generating some sort of white muccus, I wonder if this has something to do with my suboptimal jaw placement), I can also say that I can't properly close my mouth and and bite (my crooked lower teeth actually don't properly allow me to close my mouth but I guess the problem it's just the teeth).. what else I can say? im not sure if mentioning anything aestehtics worth wise is worth it since doctors are stupid and don't understand the pain of not being aesthetically good looking and will just give you anti depressants... anyway, please help me out with this.

Which is precisely why I'm going private and likewise why I'm against socialised medicine.

Sometimes private healthcare is no better, in the end a surgeon is still a surgeon no matter their prestige. Even the best surgeons have the ability to screw up. Surgery in general is a gamble  :-\

However if you really feel the need to undergo surgery and social health care is giving you an opportunity to do your jaw for free then what's there to lose other than your bad bite?

indeed, surgery is a gamble, but my logical thought is, by choosing a surgeon that is known to care about aesthetics and has a big portfolio, i guess you are reducing the chances of f**king up vs a social healthcare surgeon which i assume has a more functional-only approach as opposed to a plastic surgeon that will also look for aesthetics and have an art/aesthetics understanding..??

btw, any good surgeons in spain?

Yeah, because healthcare exists only for aesthetic surgeries. LMAO. Let's see what you'll say in a couple of years when you need some cardiac surgeries that cost way more than any LeFort or BSSO ever will. Besides that, OP situation sounds like he's in the UK. Germany for example has a socialised healthcare system, but you're still grantued free choice on which doctor you want to get your treatment from by law. The only thing that's required is that the doctor has a contract with the country to treat public insured patients, which is basically every doctor.

Alfaro - volume. But then an intern may be working on you. He also uses piezoelectric osteotomes, which supposedly reduce the chance of nerve damage.
