Should I be worried about molar extractions?
« on: April 16, 2017, 02:11:43 AM »
Hello,

I have had two first molars extracted in the lower jaw, and one unerupted wisdom teeth is likely to be extracted next. I'm bit concerned about possible negative consequences from both functional and aesthethic perspective. Could you elaborate on this? Should I get implants ASAP?

Unless the plan was extraction to create extra overjet for mandibular advancement, yes, I would be concerned.  Generally premolars are removed for that purpose if at all - more doctors are opting for non-extractive methods such as IPR or bonding to remove/add space.  I've not heard of molars extracted for that purpose though... do you know why they removed them?

Wisdom extractions are generally considered okay, and probably beneficial if not erupted.  I don't know much about it aside from that most people have them removed now days.
