Residual Swelling

So most of my swelling is gone but there is still some in my cheeks and around the bottom of my nose. This is quite noticeable(to me anyway) when viewed from the front. My profile view looks normal and I'm very happy with that. The swelling is quite uneven and gives me a rather odd looking face. I know when this goes, i will be very happy with how I look but at the minute I feel very self conscious when I'm out and about and haven't really socialised much since my surgery because of this.

Does anyone know if there is anything I could do to make the swelling go down faster? Or do I just have to wait it out?

I'm at week 10 from double jaw surgery for an underbite.

Can alcohol make the swelling worse? I've only drank alcohol twice since my surgery.

I haven't had my main jaw surgery yet but I've had SARPE and a few rhinoplasties over the years.

Alcohol can definitely increase swelling but at your stage it'll be minimal so I wouldn't worry too much about the odd glass. Time is your friend, boring I know, but it will slowly dissapate over the next few months.

I am 6 months post op and still have plenty of swelling in my cheeks, jawline, and around my nose.  My surgeon said that It can take a whole year for residual swelling to subside, and possibly multiple years for everything else ( soft tissue, muscle) to settle.

Damn. I'm hoping my swelling will be gone by month 6 or at least down to a level that I'm happy with

By 6 months 90% of the swelling should be gone...it's a slow recovery, you should be glad the worse is over!!

yea 6 months virtually all swelling should be gone - visible that is. only your surgeon will be able to point out where the swelling is, no one else will be able to see it.

LOL. well there are exceptions, but generally swelling should be gone by 6 months.
