I have good bite and normal chin - Bimax or chin wing
« on: July 24, 2017, 07:55:28 AM »
Hello,

I'm new and I have questions about a possible surgery.
I'm from Europe so excuse my s**t english.

I have good bite so my problem is only aesthetic. My jaws are too recessed which makes me look like s**t from profile.
When I bring forward my lower jaw chewing my lips, I do look much better.

I went to a surgeon and he said I should have a bimax surgery.
Problem is I don't want to change my face too much (heard bimax have impacts on the nose for exemple) and it's an heavy surgery.

I searched on the internet and heard a Chin Wing could make my lower jaw look less recessed?
But problem my chin is pretty much ok. Would a chin wing still be possible?

I'll try to post pictures once I'm back from holiday.

Thanks for your help.

Thank you for you answer.
I'm not against bimax, just afraid I'll have to wear braces for a long period before surgery (Even tho I have good bite?). And post-surgery is heavier than chin wing.
In my country, bimax is mostly paid by our health care so I guess price wouldn't be an issue.

Another question.
Is it mandatory to extract wisdom teeth before surgery or will it ok if I keep them?
