Hi everyone,

I am currently in my mid 30s and suffered a lack of growth in my midface as a child due to cranial radiotherapy to treat my Leukaemia.

I have spent 3 years seeing around 5 different teams/maxillofacial surgeons trying to get my condition treated. The treatment from my research requires facial distraction in order to bring the face forward simulating the growth process. Also these conditions are picked up in childhood and surgery done then, the big issue is that these specialists seem very rare.

Does anyone know of any experts in the UK that specialise in treating these conditions?

No idea about UK.  I have seen a picture of an adult (albeit young) woman who got distraction for Crouzon syndrome.  The result was spectacular.  So it does get done.  I wish I could find the link.  There is a surgeon in Australia who distracts the lower jaw and maxilla in adults, but not the upper mid face.  His reputation is somewhat controversial. Distraction is only needed for >7 mm advancement of the mid face (and >20 mm of the lower jaw).  You would have to have very buggy eyes for this to be the case.
