Please help me get some perspective on my face - Pics inside
« on: September 24, 2018, 07:13:19 PM »
Hello everyone, first post.

I am having some self-esteem issues regarding my face and more specifically my jaws. I feel my jaw width is okay, but I lack forward projection on both jaws.
I have no functional or sleep issues that I am currently aware of, so this is coming from a more aesthetic perspective. I know jaw surgery would improve my face, but I want to gain some perceptive from others to see just how bad my jaws are, as one can have a hard time properly assessing their own face.

Jaw surgery is a serious procedure (As I assume most of you know), and since this has no/little functional impact this will be paid full out of my own pocket. I want to see how others view my jaws to see if this issue is more serious in my head, or it really is that obvious to those around me.

Also maybe some tips on what surgery would be my best option, I imagine a bi-max advancement, or more conservatively a sliding genio.

Please keep the discussion on my jaws, as this is my current issue, for the most part I'm okay with the rest of my face.

Thank you everyone!

At worst - a mildly retrognathic profile. Profiles are overrated. Genioplasty will give you an ugly pointy chin. Grow a bigger beard.

Thanks for your perspective. Would you then recommend a chin implant instead? Or simply leave as is? I do worry a lot more about my profile then frontal.

Your profile is good. I would not go for jaw surgery.

Are you f**ked in the head? you look great, great orthagnathic profile, good projection and facial balance. you're not even retrognathic, plosko also has mild autism being on this site for too long. you look f**king perfect.

He did say 'at worst' to be fair, so technically he's correct. However OP, just because you don't have insane projection or whatever doesn't mean you need surgery. Lazlo is completely right about your facial balance, you look good. Don't ruin it with surgery.

I believe I have the same concerns as you do with my own face Moonbeam69 . Do you feel your face would benefit if both of your jaws were moved forward because your brow ridge/forehead protrudes further than the lower 2/3 of your face?

Your jaws look RELATIVELY recessive to YOU due to the EXCESS projection of the 'brow bossing' area of the forehead. Your profile and it's JAW BALANCE looks a lot better to my eye when I reduce the excess brow protrusion.

Because it's the excess that throws your profile out of balance there would be MORE IMBALANCE if you tried to 'balance' by bringing forward both jaws.

I don't mean to say/imply that the excess brow bossing is a 'bad' thing. Nor am I suggesting you pursue reduction to the area. What I'm suggesting here is that you identify where the (slight) profile imbalance is coming from. It's NOT because the jaws are recessive. Hence, no jaw surgery.
Please. No PMs for private advice. Board issues only.

I can see what you mean but I don’t think ‘big’ jaw surgery would help you. I think your chin looks too narrow and pointed (I have a similar issue). Have you considered some filler to widen and square off the chin? It might be all you need. If you do find someone good.

Good luck

You have a slight convex profile, but your mandibular plane doesn't look overly steep to me..

I think you look great, definitely a very attractive man. Great nose, great jaw, chin fits your face well and you have great facial hair genetics. Your brow is also a sign of masculinity.

You should be happy you were blessed with awesome genetics man. Enjoy life.
