Ugly smile after jaw surgery
« on: May 16, 2019, 09:10:35 AM »
What could fix it?  Would pulling my chin farther back in a few months help?

I’m so sad that I’ve gone through all this for a nice smile and still have an ugly smile.

Your maxilla is too vertically short and you have large buccal corridors. I have the same issues. The former can be solved with downgrafting. The latter is harder - the upper arch must match the lower and the lower cannot be widened except through subapical osteotomy, which hardly anyone does.

Also, perhaps your occlusal plane is still too flat, which also affects tooth show.

Yes, you should absolutely get this fixed. Luckily shortening the jaw is easier than extending it.

The problem is more that you have a masculin chin and jaw. Maybe you should look for feminization procedures. It could make you somehow cuter (if it works).

I realized after posting this that I was being insane flipping oit over what i looked like three weeks post surgery. I’m not even close to healed up yet- face still swollen and changing day to day.

Going to give daily photos a rest for a while and just focus on healing!

Certainly an improvement over your pre-op, even at this stage. Take stock at the 4 month mark and then decide if you would like to pursue further. It would be hard to give advice until that point.
