Is it me or did they butcher this guy’s face?
« on: July 18, 2019, 06:43:20 PM »
It looks like he’s tilting his head up even more to compensate for his recessed lower jaw. Rip. He got his lower jaw moved back, and his upper jaw moved forward, apparently moving the top jaw would be too much advancement according to the doc, which I guess could be true.. I feel like he needed ccw rotation and he didnt get any.

It kind of looks like IF they had advanced his maxilla as FAR as his lower jaw his bite would not be right and/or he could have had nose upturn too much or monkey muzzle. So, it looks like they advanced his upper jaw as much as they could to make bite right and/or to avoid monkey muzzle but had to move the lower jaw backwards.

But do you agree that it doesn’t look good? He clearly has forward head posture.  What was the problem then that prevented a goodlooking outcoming? What would Dr Gunson have done? Is it  that maybe he had a recessed nasal aperture or something and thats why he would look like a monkey? Cuz he needed a lefort 2?

I'd agree he doesn't look ideal with the lower jaw brought backward. But he probably would not have looked ideal either if they brought upper jaw AS forward as the lower jaw.  I would not say his face is 'butchered'. I'm just telling you what it looks like the doctor did.  He had class 3 and it looks like they advanced the maxilla as far as they could without causing aesthetic problem to THAT area. It also looks like a priority to balance the bite resulted in bringing the lower jaw backward. So, it looks like the doctor 'sacrificed' the forward lower jaw by bringing it backard to make THE BITE RIGHT. Sometimes the aesthetics can't be 'idealized' if they have to prioritize the BITE. He didn't need an L2.

In what universe is that guy's face "butchered"?

He looks NORMAL in the after picture whereas in the pre-op he has a life-altering DEFORMITY.

Honestly I have no idea what you are looking at.

He's probably looking at the potential for jaw surgery to turn him into the MODEL you see on his avatar.

The question now: to ban or not to ban?

Yeah..the guy got a substantial LF1 without getting chimp lip and his deformity was normalized. He went from looking a bit ‘odd’ to being a normal looking guy with no flaws that jump out at you.

I could see how MAYBE in a perfect world his lower jaw would be stronger. But since his nose/upper lip look good he has other options if he wanted to do something about that. To call this ‘butchered’ is delusional.

It looks very good from profile. He's got a little bit of a 'boyish' look, looks nice.

The fact that he is smiling makes his chin looking more forward than it really is.

Maybe someone is trying to hide something he does not want others to see.

Even if that is the case he can get a genio to compensate

His chin does look too vertical. I'm not sure why that is, but that should be an easy fix if it's truly anything other than smiling and/or a weird photo.
