Sliding genioplasty can be performed twice?
« on: September 14, 2019, 10:58:05 AM »
Hi.
I had an overbite and weak chin. first of all I fixed the chin with an implant. Not satisfied with result, so I had gone under jaw surgery.
Surgeon fixed the entire jaw, maxilla and chin with sliding but since the chin was still retrused, he leaved the chin implant inside.
So actually I had sliding genioplasty and implant!
Now the question is: can I perform a second sliding genioplasty for accomplish the results that wasnt possible to achieve at first place?
As second option, can I replace the actual implant with a bigger one?
Ultimately, can I reshape the chin with filler or isn't possible having implant?

Yes, you can do revision genioplasty.

You can also replace the implant, although some materials (silicone) are more amenable to this than other materials that are porous and allow ingrowth of tissue.

Yes you can reshape with filler on top of an implant but surgeon needs to be careful not to inject at wrong places as to not cause infection.
