I had a consultation with a surgeon who took one look at me and told me that I would need MARPE before surgery, then sent me away to make an appointment with the orthodontist.
My maxilla is pretty asymmetrical because I grew up with unilateral TMJ osteoarthritis. One side is wider and flatter while the other side is narrower and gummier. Does MSE work properly on an asymmetrical maxilla? I'm concerned that it's going to make things more asymmetrical, and I'm wondering if it would be a better option to just go for a segmented LeFort to widen the maxilla.
Does anyone have any experience with MSE on a canted maxilla?
Any thoughts are appreciated.
