Determining movements/SG
« on: January 29, 2022, 08:13:06 AM »
I have a consultation in about a week, I am looking for a SG with forward and downward movements. I am looking for large movements especially chin height, from the front I literally have a U-shaped jaw because the chin didn't develop(even the photos don't quite show it).

I actually had a this type of SG years ago and it made no difference(it was 3 or 4mm movements) so this time I'm gonna ask for large movements up to 10+milimeters if this is possible, I would have no problem with bone grafting to fill up the gaps.

I got some photos in these links and I PS'd what I am trying to achieve(the before shots on the left side of course). I don't know how many milimeter's to ask for, I would appriciate your advice on this. The surgeons say that they can tell me based on a computer software they'll be using on my x-rays.

I've seen some great results online btw. Increasing chin height does wonders for males with vertically deficient chins.

Here are intraoperative pictures with some technical notes (warning: graphic):https://www.lowcostmetic.com/intraoperative-and-technical/chin/chin-augmentation

I think it is interesting. You can find many examples with rather large vertical movement. Maybe it is useful for you.

Here an example with 12mm downward and 6mm forward movement:https://www.lowcostmetic.com/intraoperative-and-technical/cases/8HEPYFEV/chin-augmentation

Thank you for the informative link. Some incredible results on there. The one you cited in particular, he transformed into a different looking person with that bulky masculine square chin. 10+ vertical mm's seems to be the sweet spot for cases like him and mine.

What I also notice is that a new tall chin pulls straight not only the neck(and some say increased airway size) but also the sagging tissue on the gonial angles(i have the same issue due to the short chin) is gone afterwards, like this woman's:

Your labiomental fold is good.  IMO you probably need jaw surgery with CW rotation.

I guess a little update wouldn't hurt, It's been about 4 months since I've had the SG. Good aesthetic improvement in my opinion, they moved the chin 7mm forward and 4mm vertically down. However I had asymetry before and the surgeon failed to fix it. Still some swelling left and the cheeks on both sides feel tingly. Hopefully it keeps improving, we'll see. I knew the risks going into this. I'll take having an actual chin now with the improved neck angle and also the improved breathing.

I try to be honest and clear about the negatives as well as the positives.

Thank you for the update.
I think it looks good. What exactly do you mean by neck angle?
Obviously i would be really interested in seeing a frontal.

Angle that area under the chin makes with the neck

Well this SG stretched out the tissue in my neck, it improved the outside look and also my airways(if anybody's interested). Some frontal pics(Must add that I've gained some fat recently and there's still some residual swelling):

What I find interesting is what can be done with only a few mm's of difference in the front. That short chin made me look child-like and like my philtrum was too long.
Now everything looks 'normal' in my eyes. I haven't had a shaven look in years.
