Experiences with dr. Albino Triaca?

He did it since day one because he is the inventor of this method. So this statement could be true.

I don't know about loosing bone - why were they so concerned about this one?

Generally:
Relatively safe or relatively unsafe. Depends on what you compare it to.
Comparsion:
Jaw-Surgery > Chin-Wing > Genioplasty


Spontaneously the following comes to my mind why bone loss occurs:
- infection
- foreign body (mechanical impact)
- absence of stimulation/pressure (new bones cells are not generated anymore)
- Aging  ;)

Excellent logical 'if this then that' questioning process along with mention of possible reasons bone loss could occur.

A chin wing procedure involves cutting through the lower border of mandible below the nerve. It can also include prying apart the segment/s. When the procedure is aimed to elongate the (cut) lower border of mandible that separates it from the rest of the mandible,  a BONE GRAFT in between the separated areas is needed. For the bone grafts to 'take' as to 'cement the pieces together, healing is needed. If infection happens, no healing can result in the cut areas not sticking together and then the bone can be lost.

Of course, no one here can predict whether or not this will happen or whether or not your particular case presents a higher risk than do other cases. If Triaca wants to assure you that you don't/won't have that particular risk with him, then ask him to show you the legal risk disclosure form you would need to sign to have surgery and ask him to cross the part out that mentions that particular risk.
