The title basically, I need a jaw surgery done for functional reasons do to jaw misalignment but I'm almost afraid to ask any surgeon if the surgery that hopefully my insurance will cover for functional reasons will make me more attractive or if he can perform it in a way to do that. I haven't decided on a surgeon yet but is it possible one could be offended by that sort of question? Or will a good surgeon always focus on those sorts of things as well? Sorry if this is a dumb question I'm very new to this.

They'll take function into account more, but they should also take aesthetics into account. This is pretty much the standard.
Millimeters are miles on the face.
