OMS refuses to do BiMAX surgery when medically required?
« on: October 23, 2025, 11:48:16 AM »
Short summary
I had a BiMAX in 2018 at University of Cincinnati.
Surgeon told me he only did half the operation, which was BSSO and 3 piece LeForte I.
Surgeon noted I needed "rotation" but told his patient there is no way to accomplish this.
Surgeon moved my lower jaw forward to fix a overbite. Surgeon then told patient he needs to find another surgeon to do the rotation because "he doesn't know how to".
This is accomplished by CCW rotation by either doing a posterior downgraft, or inverted -L osteo with bone grafting.

So I called 26 OMS both in Ohio, kentucky, Indiana and Michigan. Most of them did a virtual consult, looked at my profile only on the zoom conference and told me "I can't help you" or "you had a previous surgery, I do not do 2nd part surgeries, go back to him and tell him to finish it."
Three of them told me he did a piss poor job lol. But they opted out because my case is too complex.

Are these people just too incompetent? Are they more concerned they will just get sued and won't help me? (2 offices told me they wont help because I'll sue them)

So if anyone is curious about the people I contacted and the exact conversation I had, I would love to share this with other people!

In the meantime, can someone please give me some more insight into this issue?

You should probably consult with Gunson if for not other reason a proper diagnosis of what happened and how to fix it. Then you can find the person to do that once you know what actually happened.
