I had a morph done with chin advancement (using the models who've already had mandibular wing advancement). I think she might be right.
Here is my morph: http://imgur.com/a/6IXtc#0 (http://imgur.com/a/6IXtc#0)
Do I look worse after? Mommaerts is only charging me 3800? so I'm inclined to do it.
-
No, you look better in the after pic.
What is it you're having done, genioplasty or implant?

Can you please explain what you mean by this? I'm a bit lost.

Chin wing with Mommaerts probably and nose job with a surgeon in LA after I do the chin.

What is this about, are you trying to look alpha or what? If you want to be alpha then yeah, you need surgery. If you're just trying to look normal then why are you doing this. Also, why does every post from you have to mention your mother? Is this some kind of complex?

I want to be more physically attractive not necessarily more alpha.

Then do the surgery, and screw what your mother thinks. If she messed you up then how can she have the answers now? Think for yourself, don't be someone else's monkey.

Yes, I do not trust her opinion at all when it comes to appearance. She wouldn't let me go on Accutane either, but when I finally did go on it, it was the best decision ever.

Better after
-
You look better in the after pic by the way. I don't know what would make your mother say you look deformed.
-
Much better after!! But I wouldn't necessarily expect the chin wing to give you the same result as the morph.
Parents (and significant others) will always think we perfect and will never want us to change our faces
How did you find your consults with MM, by the way?

He has given me one word answers. Here is a copy of my most recent e-mail to him with his answers in bold. I am thinking of using a different doctor that uses a bone graft instead although this doctor charges 6000?.
Dear Dr. Mommaerts,
Thank you for your reply. Dr. Buettner has informed me of the cost and he quoted me 3807 Euros, which is very affordable. I would opt for the chin wing operation over an SG with HA paste.
My only questions are:
1. Can any sort of computer simulation be obtained of what I might look like after the procedure?
yes, more or less. Tehre is a cost of 150 euro
2. What is the advantage of using a bone graft? I only ask because another surgeon I consulted with wanted to take a graft from my hip. You said you do this operation without a graft, so I am curious what the difference is.
Experience
3. Do you have any more pictures of patients who have had a chin wing with you?
Not with consent.

can you do a chin wing osteotomy after you do a bsso?

Pretty typical replies from him. He doesn't give s**t.

after the jaw is healed from the bsso, yes. for instance, you can do it when they remove the plates / screws.

If he's rushing through an email that would take two minutes at most to be courteous then he's probably going to be rushing through a surgery that, realistically, should take two hours. He's shown the same attitude at my consultation and a few others'. I don't trust him.
-
Do you happen to have the name of this Italian surgeon please? I only speak German and English unfortunately. Also I live in the US so a surgeon here would be great.
I think it was Sandro Pelo.

I've emailed Mommaerts and have received similar abrupt replies to surgery questions.
I put it down to the fact that he's an extremely busy man, and when he gets emailed questions from patients, I understand if he just wants to fire off the replies quickly and efficiently.
When he emailed me, he had just arrived at an airport and in the following email he was courteous enough.
I found him to be very nice when I met him for a consultation.
For balance I should give my experience too.
Herr B?ttner is an incredibly helpful man, and is also a surgeon who works with MM (I think).
Through Herr B?ttner I was able to organise skype consultations free of charge, which easily lasted 30 minutes of him answering all my questions in detail. Mind you did this after he had finished an operation, so that's pretty special imo.
Overally my consultation with him in person was great, and the follow-ups were also reassuring. I did have problems with the English receptionist who disappeared for medical reasons, however since switching to the German doctor I've received much better service.
I can't really tell you why some people might find him dismissive. Could it be he just isn't good with e-mail, and a lot of this is happening over e-mail? Does he just not like British people? Perhaps he just likes Germans / Francophones such as myself?
Either way I can't knock them for service so far. Especially when all the other maxfac surgeons I've contacted just seem to disappear once I've had my consult. Dr Alfaro and another in Holland were particularly bad. Completely ignoring my e-mails, not giving me photos that were taken, nor scans or moulds.
-
Haha, maybe the Brits just don't lick arse enough for his liking? ;D
-
I found MM perfectly nice in person and answered my questions reasonably well considering the circumstances. I'm just not convinced by the surgical plan! (If I was OK with the plan, I would be totally OK with having him do the surgery. As it is, I will reserve final decision til I've been in braces a while and I know how much decomp I am likely to get)

hahah
Or he just saw my face and thought it was so beautiful he needed me as one of his before and afters ;D ;D

See you in his next book - 'how to improve perfection' :P

Very good question. In my case, I'm 90% sure it was Buettner, based on what I observed and experienced at the consults. I think he only revises B's work. He also operates with him, so you'll never know who actually operated you. That being said, B. may be very competent and experienced. He certainly appears to be. And yes, he's about 100 times nicer than M. No attitude from him. And for a change, he acts like a human (smiles, gives you full-sentence answers, jokes...) and seems passionate about his work rather than go through the motions (M). So, he may not be a bad choice to consider. He draws from M's massive experience but has all the traits you want a surgeon to have.
I've seen B a couple of times and he's by far the best of the bunch to talk to anyway, a much much more compassionate person than M could ever hope to be. B has featured on a Swiss tv surgery show so he must be pretty competent himself...hope I've got the right one there, so don't quote me on that.
Dr De Graeve is another one, my jaw nearly hit the floor the first time I met him - he is ridiculously good looking :o
-
yeah, that's him. i think he's a name we'll hear of more often. a polar opposite from M as far as personality and rapport with the patient is concerned. and he's very good looking himself as well.
