Hi friends, I recently had a consultation with Dr Ramieri and he said that surgery first is not an option for me and that I would most likely need to find an orthodontist first and extract my 2 lower premolars.
Are there any orthodontists in Canada that have worked with Ramieri or other European surgeons before or would they generally be reluctant to work with EU surgeons?

Not sure but I think the reluctance of North American orthos (Canada and US) to coordinate with EU maxfax doctors is in circumstances of the SURGERY FIRST method which is not common in North America. Since you are not getting the surgery first method, seems to me your options would be open to find an ortho in Canada to coordinate your ortho treatment with the EU doctor.

Sorry Kavan just seeing your reply now. Yes that may be the case since suregery first is not as prelevant in North America. I did ask Ramieri if he could provide a list of orthos in Canada that have worked with him but he said he doesn't know any orthos in Canada. How much does the choice of orthodontist usually matter in terms of the final results?
Also are there any Canadian jaw surgeons that you would recommend? I rarely see before/after photos from Canadian suregons and the ones that I have seen don't look aestethic at all.

Well, the orth and surgeon need to work as a team. So, an ortho might be good in his own right but there might not be the team work that's needed to stream line the communication between the ortho and the surgeon. So, you would need to ask the surgeon about any potential glitches with that prospect.
As a matter of course, I don't give recs for surgeons. So best to put out a separate 'feeler' for those on here who might give some suggestions.
