Do I Require SARPE? (with photos)
« on: April 13, 2015, 08:42:34 AM »
Hello Forum Members,

I am currently looking into having the "surgery first" method which would involve double jaw surgery to correct my open-bite and slight under-bite (only have 4 molars touching).

My question is, based on my photos that I have attached:

- Do you think I should have the SARPE surgery first to expand my upper palate and then once healed, have the double jaw surgery? Or, with the ability to slightly expand the upper palate during Lefort 1, will that be enough for my situation?

- How soon after SARPE is it possible to have the double jaw surgery?

Also, apologies for the poor quality of the photos and I hope you are able to make a good assessment based off of them.

Thank you!

Perfect candidate for SARPE, this would work wonders for you. I haven't seen someone with an upper arch that much more narrow than the lower arch.

I'm not sure on this but I've seen people post that SARPE can actually be done at once together with double jaw surgery.

SARPE's usually done at the same time that impacted wisdoms are removed in preparation for bimax.

Yes, you would benefit.

I've had mine done; 1 year prior to double jaw surgery.

SAPRE, braces for 1 year, DJS next.

Depends on factors,  like how much expansion required, my Ortho/surgeon advised at consults.
