Must i give up or push surgery still?
« on: June 07, 2016, 03:17:15 AM »
Speak 4 ortho(last one today 2 hour ago) in my area and all refused jaw surgery.
Two of them said problem is chin dont extract teeth i didnt discuss with them. Last one a hour ago said my lower incissors is back and he will push them with braces no extraction and said i have class 1 molar relationship. I said him look ceph my lower teeth flared as well as uppers i think need jaw surgery or extraction for fixing angle and lowers are not back my lower canines is out of my lower jaw he didnt care and and he said no. he refused look ceph and panaromic i dont know why. we speak like 10-15 min and he try explain i have no jaw problem

The only one i trust her knowledge said 4 extraction can fix profile. she analyze everything and after ceph said maybe little chance jaw surgery recommend speak with a surgeon but she said no surgeon accept it.

u know i feel like im pushing for surgery or have bdd or going down mentally. at photos or ceph i can see a problem. nearly Everyone in the f**king internet think i can get surgery. I speak with maxfacsurgeons patients and they said surgery. arnett gunson said surgery.
Ill speak with jaw surgeon or plastic surgeon or one roth williams ortho or give up.

Rly i dont know what must do now. My family can see my problem because everyortho we speak say different s**t and f**king every ortho explain a different problem. My dad thinks i ll get surgery and regret it cuz im pushing. I think same. this is s**t orthos or s**t me i dont know. I just can give up

You don't have any lip incompetence so your bite is good, right? Couldn't you get away with just a sliding genio?

If you are class I and your chin looks normal then why you want jaw surgery?

Skip the orthodontists and go straight to the surgical consultations.  Once you find a surgeon you like, go to that surgeon's recommended orthodontist.  It's technically backwards, but you have to be your own advocate because this world is full of dips**ts, doctors included.

Difficult case.

When you have as much crowding as you, I don't think extractions would really collapse your face. You have enough teeth already to support your face.

I can see from your teeth pictures that you have protruding teeth, and also that your canines seem to be a little pushed forward. Teeth will protrude if they don't have enough space, and also from bad habits like the tongue pushing at the teeth.

It would be interesting to see how the wilckodontics braces would work for you. If you managed to widen the arches a little, you can free up space so your teeth won't protrude as much. I think you might benefit from sliding genio anyway after wilckodontics though.

I'm thinking about wilckodontics myself, as I have crowding with protruding teeth myself. My canines are pushed forward a little, and I think this has a big impact on profile. Rounding the arches + some widening would help, at least theoretically.

What sucks is that there isn't much info on what impact wilkcodontics will have in cases like ours. At least it will help with our teeth alignment. Needadvancment had the procedure done, and for him it was a success.

Here you can read about it: http://www.archwired.com/AOO1.htm
Here is someone who expanded their arch with it: https://tanyagetsbraces.wordpress.com/

Why is this backwards?  Aren't a lot of us here because orthodontics ruined our faces and airways during childhood?  Most orthodontists dont even understand how to competently deal with an overbite.  Doesn't a surgeon have more knowledge in determining who needs surgery or not?
The more I learn about the gamble that is jaw surgery the more afraid I become!!!   :-(

If the surgeon knows the wilckodontics procedure in addition to other surgeries, it would probably be a good idea to go to him and hear his opinion.

The ortho wanted to push your incisors further out? I think it would be better aesthetically if you make more room and push the canines back (especially for the lower arch). Pushing them out would give you more protrusion.

yeah giving him with full trust and he saw me as''3k dolar easy braces''. aand I didnt ask for any money. The ortho which said 4 extract understand me more than him. At least he try fix convex profile extracts the last one said omg u normal. They see surgery as a death or etc or last thing. If you achive best results with surgery ithink u must go for it. i can give you 2x 3x price but tell me truth.

Yes man, some of these orthos don't care.

My problem with extractions is not looks-wise. If you look at protrusion cases of people who had extractions and pulled back the jaws with braces and tads, they do seem to fix or improve the problem. But what about the functional side of it? You basically decrease the size of the mouth. I would assume this could lead to sleep apnea, and possibly other problems. Maybe it's fine if you already have a lot of room to start with.
