Lip support after surgery

this is a central part of surgery right? right now the corners of my lips droop giving me a natural frown when relaxed, and I always get asked why I'm so unhappy when I'm not; it's more than a bit irritating. Also I wouldn't be surprised if I repel people on facial expression alone. So... fixing this is a major goal for me

when I smirk, my lips are in what i would consider an 'ideal' position, but this is only when I use my muscles to do so

Lip changes after surgery are under-discussed here imo. I have full lips that I don't want to lose with surgery (don't want them to thin out) but I hope the lips get better support and maybe a bit wider on the face.

Would also be good to hear from post-op people if they've had issues smiling or anything lip related

Euphoria.... Do oral myology exercises by yourself or with a therapist...  I have personally seen it work wonders on lip posture and incompetence.    And it can only help you if you get surgery to maintain results.

That's what I'll do after surgery, my tonged thrust destroyed any progress I made with orthodontics so getting it corrected is a high priority

i still have minor lip incompetence (now) but i think more to do with soft tissue changes than the changing position of the mouth. not something i would stress over

Lazlo: I don't think you're being aggressive enough with your surgery plans. me, personally? I'm going for a Le Fort III, BSSO, Genio, mandible implants sculpted out of gold, carbon fiber cheek implants, silver coated tear through implants and a new silicone tongue

I guess what I'm trying to say is if you want a good result you must go to the BEST surgeon available even if it means traveling half-way around the world.

Yeah but even sometimes going to the best of the world you can still have complications or something, and its a ton of money to go back to fix it or even live there for a while, but if one can afford it great!
