Osseoconductive cement
« on: October 04, 2015, 09:33:49 PM »
I just saw that this company makes an osseoconductive cement used to reattach bone fractures and they're starting with dental applications. Seems like a really, really useful product. In combination with CT guided bone grafts, it seems like it should be possible to eliminate internal fixation altogether. Just create a custom graft to match the exact osteotomy sites and fit it in place using the cement. It could be done today but the bone grafts have to be shaped by hand, ok but not as good. Also, today we have to rely on HA or Bio-OSS grafts, ok but not as good as lab grown autologous grafts we'll likely start seeing in the next 5 years.
