Ok this is what's happening, apparently my mandible slided from the middle third to the right and now my ortho has given me these strong rubber bands to bring it back to the correct position and to block the slide, she says this is normal to happen after jaw surgery when mouth isnt wired shut.

Thing is the rubber bands are affecting my left jaw, and giving me pain, even my ear hurt. When i take the rubber bands off i notice some relief but i also notice that my jaw is very sore and that the mandible wants to slide to the wrong position. I can notice that my bite is off.

I dont know what can be done now, what if she cant correct the sliding and the bad bite with the rubber bands alone, will i have to go through another jaw surgery?

When she saw me first time after surgery she said my middle third was aligned but now isnt anymore, that it slided and now i have a bad bite. She said that's normal, is it really?

About the surgery, even the ortho says nothing much changed in my face after the 7 mm bsso advancement and mandible advancement with cww rotation. I think more advancement would be needed to see any major changes.

I feel kinda sad and i don think the pain i'm going through justifies the surgery. should've sticked with the camouflage treatment and use cpap :(

Another question, can these rubber bands be affecting my tmj and causing the pain? shouldnt they move the teeth only?

wow so your mandible slid back to pre-op position? how is that possible since they screw/plate the jaw in the new position? Like how is this even physically possible?

I think he means it slided to the right, giving him a crossbite. It happens sometimes but can be avoided with rubber bands.

yes that's it tezcatli.surgeon should've wired my mouth shut even my ortho said so. i had rubber bands on but 6 days post op the rubber bands on the right side busted  and i could only get more from my ortho the next day, so i slept one night without rubber bands and i think that's what caused this.

now i have to use the rubber bands, endure the pain and it's 6+ months of ortho treatment because he didnt want to wire my mouth shut.

Few surgeons wire shut these days.  It used to be the norm before plate fixation was developed.
