vertical maxilliary deficiency

cant see my upper teeth, although very lean it can not be seen on face, prominent lower lip, short face, horrible smile..class 2, but can be corrected with orth..what about facial profile

Both jaws advanced, maxilla lowered. Not hard for a good maxillofacial surgeon.

I don't think orthodontics alone can't fix this.  You have a similar face as mine.  I just had double jaw surgery 5 weeks ago.  I hope that it "takes".  Both jaws were brought forward, top jaw 9 mm, bottom 14 mm, and rotated clockwise with bone graft in upper jaw.  I now have full tooth show when smiling which I never had before.  Wish I did it way before now, but oh well.

Anything do with the upper jaw is called Le Fort I.

what does mean that my upper jaw should be "rotated clockwise"..i always thought that angle would be changed in order to show upper incisors and elongate facial profile..what am i missing??

I think to really find out what needs and or can be done is to have a consultation with an oral surgeon.

Could you suggest any other maxfac surgeon from Italy? Is there possibility to be operated in public hospital and how much does it cost..no one in croatia wants to lower my maxilla

Nowadays, I show no upper teeth when smiling..is it possible to lower maxilla for 7mm? What do i get from rotating it

Could you please give me the exact name of operation? Just lefort1 or..i am considering raffaini as my surgeon and tend to contact him in few months..i dont understand part with rotation, does it mean that maxilla will be lowered less, but by rotating it i could show my upper teeth and elongate the face

Lefort 1 Osteotomy
Bilateral Saggital split osteotomy
Osseous Genioplasty

^^ All combined in one operation. Bimaxillary advancement w/ genioplasty.

Imagine you are looking at a face from profile from the right hand side - a clockwise movement of the face would mean bringing everything downward and forward. If there is a flat occlusal plane then the jaws and chin are at quarter past the hour (on a clock face) - if you do clockwise rotation then they would then be at 20 past the hour... make sense?

So is raffaini a good choice in your opinion? Any other italian surgeon..so by moving maxilla down for 6-7mm, rotating it and bringing both jaw forward, my face would appear longer, more defined and narrow?

Da, kao nole..od kuda si..regarding pelo, some of you mentioned, he does not have eye for estetics although best craniofacial surgeon..raffaini is closer to zagreb..i am sure that only lowering maxilla can help me..i look horrible..could someone post here mails for pelo and raffaini?
